Scrotum
The sac of skin that surrounds the testicles.
Semen
The fluid containing sperm (the male reproductive cells) that is expelled (ejaculatzed) through the end of the penis when the man reaches sexual climax (orgasm).
Seminal vesicles
The sac-like pouches that attach to the vas deferens near the base of the urinary bladder. The seminal vesicles produce a sugar-rich fluid called fructose that provides sperm with a source of energy that helps sperm move. The fluid of the seminal vesicles makes up most of the volume of a man's ejaculatory fluid, or ejaculate.
Seminal fluid
The thick white fluid mainly produced by the prostate and seminal vesicles containing sperm that is ejaculated by the penis.

A testicular cell responsible for nurturing the spermatids (immature sperm).
Sexual dysfunction
This refers to a problem during any phase of the sexual response cycle that prevents the individual or couple from experiencing satisfaction from the sexual activity.
Sexual masochism
A disorder in which a person uses sexual fantasies, urges or behaviors involving the act (real, not simulated) of being humiliated, beaten or otherwise made to suffer in order to achieve sexual excitement and climax.
Serial monogamy
The concept of having multiple sexual partners over a lifetime, in a sequence of committed relationships.

An instrument used to spread the vagina open so that the cervix can be seen.
Sperm
The male reproductive cells.
Sperm morphology
A semen analysis factor that indicates the number or percentage of sperm in the sample that appear to have been formed normally.
Sperm Motility
The ability of sperm to swim. Poor motility means the sperm have a difficult time swimming toward their goal - the egg.
Sperm retrieval
The doctor removes sperm from a man's reproductive tract (testis or epididymis) using a fine needle, biopsy gun, or other instrument.
Spermatids
Immature sperm.
Spermatocele
A spermatocele is (usually) a small cavity, filled with watery liquid, in the epididymis.
Spermatogenesis
Production of sperm in the testes.
Spermaturia
Spermaturia is the release of sperm into the urine. This does occur and can be noted in men with long periods of continence.
Spermicide
Foams, jellies, tablets or suppositories that a woman places in her vagina and up next to the cervix (the opening leading from the vagina to the womb) before sex to prevent pregnancy. Spermicides block the cervix and paralyze the sperm, making them unable to travel into the womb.
STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease)
Any infection that is acquired through sexual contact in a substantial number of cases.
STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection)
Any infection that is acquired through sexual contact in a substantial number of cases.
Suppository
A type of medication designed to melt at body temperature within a body cavity other than the mouth.
