Avoid Fake Viagra |
 |
Viagra is popular with counterfeiters because it's a high-priced
drug that sells well over the Internet, since men hesitate
talking about their sexual problems with their doctors.
This has prompted Pfizer to launch a broad legal offensive
and Internet advertising campaign to stop online commerce
in bogus Viagra.
The main targets are sellers of counterfeit Viagra or purported generic versions of the drug, Pfizer said. No legal generic is available in the U.S. because the drug remains protected by patents.
Risks of buying fake Viagra: Fake Viagra is potentially dangerous:
- Fake Viagra may look just like, real Viagra® (sildenafil citrate). The pills and the packaging can be very convincing. However, fake Viagra is different from real Viagra in many ways.
- It may or may not contain sildenafil citrate. Viagra works because it contains sildenafil citrate.
- It is often made in factories that have little or no quality control, which may cause contamination.
- It is not approved or regulated by the FDA.
- It is illegal to sell in the United States
Recognize sites selling Fake Viagra:
- Avoid sites which sell Viagra at very cheap costs. Viagra typically costs about $8 to $12 per pill. Any cost that is much lower should raise concern.
- The site uses language like "authentic VIAGRA" or "100% real" to convince you it's real.
- Avoid buying from a pharmacy which is located outside of the United States or does not provide an address. Be careful. A Web site may say it is located in the United States or Canada or has US physicians when this is not true
Buy genuine Viagra from a reputable retail pharmacy or an online pharmacy that has been certified by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
